Terminals

Terminals, Terminal facilities ist die in England und in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika übliche Bezeichnung für die Bahnhöfe, insbesondere die Güterbahnhöfe mit ihren Anlagen zur Be- und Entladung der Güter. Diese Anlagen sind häufig im Besitz und Betrieb besonderer Gesellschaften. Unter Terminals = Terminal charges (Station charges) versteht man auch die für Benutzung dieser Anlagen zu zahlenden Gebühren, Abfertigungsgebühren, die meist in die Frachtsätze eingerechnet sind. In England hat das die Folge, daß die Übersichtlichkeit und Kontrolle der Gütertarife erschwert wird. Den dortigen Eisenbahnen waren in den Konzessionen meist nur Höchstsätze oder Normalsätze für die Streckengebühr vorgeschrieben; die Festsetzung der Stations- und der Abfertigungsgebühren war ihrem freien Belieben überlassen. Durch Änderung dieser Gebühren konnte also leicht die wahre Höhe der Tarife verschleiert werden. Infolgedessen ist auch im Art. 24 des Ges. vom 10. August 1888 die Feststellung von Höchstsätzen für T. vorgesehen. In den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika ist die Trennung von Stations- (Expeditions-) und Streckensätzen gleichfalls nicht üblich, wird aber vielfach zur Erhöhung der Übersichtlichkeit der Frachtsätze und zur Vermeidung ungebührlicher Unterschiede zwischen den Frachtsätzen für lange und für kurze Entfernungen verlangt.
